I recently took a 6 day tour with my Stella. I loved it so much I think I'm going to quit my job and just travel for a month or 2. Opinions?

Well, I'd say, "What?!? Are you outta your mind?!?"
Holy crap, a scary thought to follow a dream.
No, don't do it, how are you going to support yourself.
Wait a minute, holy crap. What a great idea, go for it, life is too damned short! enjoy, go have the time of your life!

Honestly, I've had some employment and therefore some scary financial issues the last several years, I'd do it if I wasn't so scared that I wouldn't have a house to come home to or afford to eat whilst I'm 'on the road' or once I'd return.
If you can get past this type of thing.....

Do it, have fun, don't look back!

If you can afford it, I'd say- What are you waiting for? Do it!

Not knowing your age, financial status, marital/family status, goals, etc. its hard to just simply vote. Id say with the way my life has been over the past dozen or so years, in my situation and my lifes status, I am voting no, don't do it. Keep inmind, this is based on me, and my current position, and may or may not be anything like you and yours. It does sound fun though!

I think it's better to regret the things you did than regret the things you didn't do. The chance may never come again! JMOYMV

As I ride around Tucson and see all the homeless I realize that what makes me fear homelessness is suffering, more so than any fear that I might die. And while suffering sucks, it does not kill you. Well, right away at least. And suffering is a mental state that can be reduced.

Most people do not fear homelessness because they think they will die, they fear it because it upsets their habits and preferences.

So if you have a good understanding of why we suffer, and think you can physically handle mental stress, I would say go for it.

Instead of burning your bridges entirely (unless you absolutely hate your job) why not just take a leave of absence for 1-2 months?

That's one of the issues as I love my job.
I tried, they wouldn't let me.

I am not afraid of homelessness. I find a certain freedom in it. Suffering is a state of mind.

I drove 18 wheelers for 2 years and that was a close to homeless as I would ever want to go! Im not a adventure seeker myself and my current job does not travel, so I guess my being complacent is "normal" to me. Now, if you seek adventure and want to have crazy stories to tell then go for it. Dage'sVew said it best about regret, but I also know what you mean about liking your job. You have a tough choice to make!

I didn't vote because I think there's a happy medium. I'm fortunate that I have a job that gives me three months off in the Summer. I'm now in my 5th Summer off, and I pinch myself every June.

Think about quitting, but think about Insurance and all that stuff.

On the flip side if your employer loves you maybe they'll take you back after a long trip.

Depends on your age, family status, and the type of job you have.

If you're young, have no family (dependents), and can get a similar job easily, then go for it.

But, keep in mind that your earliest working years are by far the most important when it comes to savings and investing. If you do it right you can set yourself up for life.

I'm glad to have a job that gives me sufficient vacation time that I can take several vacations yearly. Of course, to me, anything more than 3 days off constitutes a vacation for me.
At any rate, I like taking a trip, coming home, working my job and earning the money for the next one. I also take off on day trips as close to weekly as I can afford.
Personally, I would have a hard time enjoying my 2 months off, not knowing what was going to happen when I got back "home."

Sure, there's lots of jobs out there.

But I quit and am leaving for adventure on Tues.

Your call about whether you can make the finances work. You would know far better than any of us. As far as the road trip itself - hell yes.

Leave your job if you think its less important and you have other ways of living. You can take a short break from your office. Some offices has non payment leave system. If you have that opportunity you can go for it.

Anyway happy travelling.
