Quick Introduction....

Post by Mopedlar »

I just wanted to quickly introduce myself. I'm a Noob here, but I've been very active in the scooter enthusiast community for several years. I currently own nine scooters, including a recently purchased, very lightly used (168 original miles) silver 2012 Buddy 170i. I live in northwestern NJ and host an organized scooter ride/rally every Memorial Day weekend.

I look forward to being a regular contributor to this forum.

Welcome to MB. Glad you've joined.

I was at his last ride, and it was an awesome day.

Like vs Buddy

Post by misplacedyank »

Welcome to Mopedlar. I have a Buddy 125 and a friend was curious about the Like 200. He was wanting a quick comparison of the 2. He will use his scooter as a urban commuter for a 40 mile roundtrip commute on city streets.

Welcome to Modern Buddy! With a scooter stable that size, you can pretty much organize a rally every weekend. Just add a few friends and you are good to go. :) Hope you enjoy your new Buddy 170i.

By the way Larry, those aren't mopeds anymore ;-) Shouldn't it be Scooterlar now?

The Like 200 is a very good looking, competent scooter and is great for back roads or city commuting. The Like is fuel injected, so it fires up on the first hit of the starter button. My biggest complaint is the amount of vibration at speeds over 45 mph. Other than that, it's a pretty good scoot.

After riding my Buddy 170i yesterday on a 50 mile ride, I can honestly say the Buddy is a more stable scoot at higher speeds. If I had to choose between the two, I'd probably go with the Buddy. It's lighter, faster and better built than the Like 200.

Hope this helps.

Regardless of what I ride, I'll always be known as "MopedLar". I still own more mopeds than scoots, so the name is still fitting :-)

I frequently lend out my scoots to family and close friends so we can go riding together. I even lend out scoots to folks who come to my annual Memorial Day Weekend Ride so they don't have to trailer their scoots here. Makes life much simpler for everyone.
