BMS Federal 50CC Wont Accelerate

I have a 2013 BMS Federal 49cc scooter that I bought new/never used about a month ago. I gave it an oil changed after about 200 miles and it has been running great. There's now about 800 miles on it and when driving it the other day I hit a bump in the road and the scooter started to rapidly decelerate from around 30MPH to 10MPH. Now even when I am full throttle I cannot get it to go above 10MPH.

Any ideas what could be the cause of this? I don't even know where to begin!

Your help is VERY much appreciated!

I'd check over on Scooterdawg, they might have more specific info regarding Chinese scooters. I'd take the seat pan out and make sure no electrical or vacuum hoses came loose when you hit the bump, if everything looks connected go ask on scooterdawg. But for the record, your problem is it's a BMS.

Saw that coming from a mile away!

Any who, + 1 for scootdawg, I'm on there too.

My Sym built tomos nitro had a similar problem, like beef said, mine was a loose connection, at the coil. Even if it look connected it might not be connected well. So check, dielectric grease as many as you can.

Maybe 800 miles is about as far as they are built to run.

They make disposable razors...why not scooters?

Took the carburetor apart, cleaned it with carb cleaner, put it back together and it runs like new.

PS the carburetor reads "made in japan"

We did once find a Geely in a dumpster that failed with less than 250 miles on it.

Disposable Chinese bikes!

I've thought about taking a Chinese 150 to tear apart and rebuild with threadlocked everything, quality CDI and coil, good tires and a Gates belt. It would be surprisingly reliable.

Then again you can find a used Buddy for not too much more.

Was it too heavy to drag home just to see what broke?
