Buddy slotted oil filter

Post by Mbates50 »

Need to get the Vespa style oil filter off and don't want to buy the tool for a one time deal. The newer filters use a ratchet wrench.

Anyone done this w/o using the tire iron style tool?

I Flagged this post as it probably ought to be in General Discussions. A moderator should come by shortly and move it to someplace with more chances for a reply.

Uh, never mind.

Aren't those slotted things awful. That is the only one my local shop carries. I have gotten them in a pinch, but prefer to order the other kind from Scooter Works.

I generally used a short screwdriver to get them off. Lay it sidways into the slow, push real hard and it may eventially come off. If you're desperate, stab a phillips screwdriver through the side of the filter and turn. It makes a mess, but this method is fast and easy and it works EVERY time.

Syd, you a gentleman. My grandfather told me the meaning of being a gentleman. He said this, "Make everybody around you as comfortable as they can be".
