NBR - How Much Weight Did You Gain...

Post by JHScoot »

...over the holidays?

Yup, it's all said and done now and I am sad to report I gained around 5 pounds. Which means at the current pace in 20 years I will be 320 pounds!

I really gotta stop indulging so much. I cannot outweigh my scooter!!

What are you all doing to get off the holiday pounds? I am desperate, here!

I work out at the gym 4 days a week, eat healthy, avoid fatty foods, and stay active, mentally and physically. I am 6' tall and keep my weight at 185-190 lbs.

I've lost 20 since Sept 11 in a way that I do not recommend!

Yep, only 4 days  I do a 4 on 3 off routine. Gaining weight has always been an bit of a problem for me. I eat around 2000 calories a day. Like to keep my weight down so That I can ride without flattening the tires.(note the clever way I got back onto the scooter topic??)

I'm 5' 11" and weigh 175 lbs. dripping wet. I eat 1,000 - 1,200 calories a day so gaining weight is not a problem.

By gaining weight I mean that it is hard for me to gain weight.

I had sinusitis-turned-bronchitis for a little over a month and lost a good 20lbs... I didn't get my appetite truly back until after Xmas. But then I gained it back in a heartbeat. So in the end I didn't gain anything... silver lining, I guess?

Getting my Stella last year was the incentive I needed to lose 30 pounds, which I did.
I have been able to keep it off, except...
Over the holidays I gained 5... working on getting it back off, but the sub zero temps are hindering any attempts to do anything but stay inside.

Gained 7 lbs. here, but as all goes well I've already lost it and an additional 2 lbs.. My secret is easy: eat ONLY when hungry and skip dinner, you don't need it.

Nothing really as I'm 5'11" and 170 lb. I've always ate healthy not because I'm consciously set out to eat like that I just am. I guess it's lucky that I didn't have a feast for the holidays...... :(

I have no idea. My pants still sorta fit. I eat the finest thick bacon every day and always start my day with a pot of coffee and a couple of Little Debbie cupcakes. Sugar is my friend. I cycle a lot.

I like George Clooney and he is well known for his sense of humor and practical jokes. I saw Matt Damon discussing this prank the other night on one of the television talk shows.

Recapped in People Magazine:
George Clooney is a gifted actor and director. But he's also a gifted prankster, as Matt Damon learned yet again while filming The Monuments Men last year.

"He took in my wardrobe by an eighth of an inch, every other day," Damon, 43, said Thursday at a press junket for the film at the Four Seasons Hotel in Los Angeles. "[He] had the wardrobe department do that because he knew that I was trying to lose weight."

Instead, thanks to the wardrobe treachery, Damon thought he was gaining weight – which baffled him, given the hours he was logging at the gym.

"This was a job where I would go back to New York, where I was living with my family, and I would come back [to film in Europe] for two weeks," Damon said, as Clooney, 52, made no effort to stifle a laugh. "And then I'd go back to New York, and every time I came back my pants were tighter, and I was like, 'Ugh, this is weird. I've been going to the gym!' "

Yet Damon seems to have taken the prank in stride, as he was quick to compliment Clooney on his cinematic talents – as well as his good looks.

"George is obscenely talented as a director, I have to say," Damon said. "It can be a little annoying being his pal because it's kind of like God said, 'Maybe this time I'll just give one of them everything. Let's make him handsome, and as he gets older he'll even look better!' "

I got severe food poisoning at an expensive restaurant. I lost 6 pounds and lots of money. It's a heck of a way to diet.

I went from 240lbs in Jan 2011 to 210lbs by Sept of the same year.
I began by exercising doing both aerobics and strength (running/jogging and some lifting at home with barbells). I also started using the eating mantra "King, prince, pauper" Which means - eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince, and dinner like a pauper.
And make sure to drink lots of water. I weaned myself from 3 sodas a day to 1 a week. Some times I even go two weeks without a soda. I still enjoy desserts and things that are not traditionally weight loss oriented but I don't want to deprive myself of ALL fun. Moderation is key.
