Well Wishing for Philip McCaleb

I've just heard that Genuine head honcho Philip McCaleb has been ill and will be undergoing an operation soon—one that may require a lengthy and difficult recovery. If you've had the chance to meet Philip, ride with him at the Genuine Appreciation rides, chat with him at Amerivespa, or even swap emails with him, you know that he sincerely loves the Genuine owners community. He reads MB often and actually listens to what we all have to say. I was surprised when, at the LA Genuine ride, he quietly asked me to be sure to introduce him to specific MBers that he knew by name!

We wouldn't be here, as a community, if not for him and not just because he started Genuine. He (and the company) have quietly supported MB from the start simply by saying, "do what you do; we're paying attention but will never interfere."

So please keep Philip in your thoughts, wish him well, hope and pray (if that's your thing) for his good health and as quick a recovery as possible. I assure you, it will mean a lot to him.

Phil:

Before Genuine introduced me to 2-wheeling, I was your prototypical suburban, mow-the-lawn, take-the-kids-to-dance-class family man. After 4 years of riding, I've been transformed into a greasy, oil-stained misanthrope, disavowed by my children and shunned by my wife. For this, I will be eternally grateful.

Now, get off your ass and get cracking on that 300 Cruiser.

Take one day at a time and be happy with very small steps getting back to health.
This group I have found is very helpful for the scooter and myself and will help you get back to your old self.
Hopefully will be scootering with a stella and sidecar in the future to keep me healthy as well.

We've never met, but this is my favorite person in the scoot world.

He is fully engaged; not just behind the product, but out in front, promoting, listening, correcting, leading with his face and personal presence. There is no anonymnity, no doubt "who" Genuine is, and that's a rare thing in any business.

In dealing with this little health challenge, i have no doubt that that karma will come back to him.

Phillip- Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers. I hope all goes well and you have a speedy recovery. I had to sit out a summer a few years ago with a medical issue and decided then and there to get a scooter so I could have some fun. I got a 09 Buddy 125 and even though I haven't got to ride it as much as I would like to- I have had plenty of fun when I am on it. Take care. God bless.

I spent some time chatting with Phillip in Lake Geneva. He's always been kind and 'genuine' to Kevin & I. He emailed and messaged me when I returned home saying that he enjoyed our chats and wanted to try to visit next time he was in California.

Phillip, please be well and I hope to see you again soon. Perhaps San Diego?

All the best,

Linda & Kevin Quinn

You're in good hands

Dear Philip,

Hate the fact you have to undergo this surgery tomorrow but just know there are so many people praying for you and keeping you in their thoughts throughout this procedure.

Put the whole thing in God's hands and it will be fine.

You have one helluva product in that Buddy. My wife has had three of them [currently two] and they are quite impressive.

That 125 (engine) 'embarrasses' my LEADER 150.

Keep it up and get well soon. :D
