Here's what Genuine has to say about it......

"We're excited to announce the first special edition we've done in a while. PSYCHO 125 is a "murdered out" all flat black version of a Buddy 125; it comes with all the NCY performance parts standard, maxxis performance blackwalls, flat black mirrors, low profile seat, and a different clutch pack and roller assembly to maximize the acceleration. It will be our quickest buddy off the line -- and the most fun to blast around town with. You'll receive a small amount of literature next week -- we're not printing much because they will sell out quickly! This scooter is the PERFECT CANDIDATE to load with accessories. Prima pipe, black rack and crashbars -- all will contribute to giving a much better margin on a very limited edition!"

WOW! Being a huge fan of the 125 this has it all… Particularly the front forks which I think they all need. I would get them if it didn't cost a gozillion dollars to install… I find it easy to bottom out the fronts.. That disc… holy crap… First time I've been jealous of a new buddy model… Need lots more cash in my pocket!!

I love it, but whew, 174 (what an odd number?) will go fast. At least we know it will be a sell out. Very cool.

I'm pretty sure 174 is an even number. :)

Maybe they had exactly 174 units on hand of one of the special components?

A few observations:

It's obviously a Bubu, but it's not branded "Buddy", just "Psycho".

The sign for the Bates Motel in the background is a cute touch.

Following the build-up of how wild and badass it is by telling us that you can charge your phone on it is a bit anti-climactic.

No mirrors?!

I think it said in the text that it comes with flat black mirrors...

That thing's pretty cool! I like the all flat black, opposed to the BlackJack with the red bits (I still like it, just not as much now :P )

Must have 'shopped them out for the glamour photo then.

I like it. Since going with blackwalls and black mirrors on my Blackjack, I've wondered how it would look with blacked out headlight bezel and horncast. The pic of the Psycho sways me to give it a try. Maybe do it in spray-on Plasti-Dip so it can be peeled off if I don't like it.

As good as the Psycho looks, I wonder why they didn't go for a similar treatment with the 170i?

At first read I missed that Genuine is going with a different clutch pack and roller assembly. I wonder what they're using.

Looks like 174 Black Jack upgrade component sets were in inventory. Great way to use 'em up.

I wonder why they didn't clean the floormat for the glamour shot?

My wife says I can't have it because it's invisible. I have enough close calls as it is when I'm dressed like a court jester on a flaming orange scooter.

For the few extra hundred bucks its a deal! With all the upgraded bits!...Cool look ,too. Me? I'd take the "eyeball" off and run it debadged...

Is that the same seat as the BJ? or another one?

A "blacker" refresh of a Blackjack, that's all....

... and that is AWESOME! If this came out the same time I picked up my P200, I may of been swayed over to a twist-n-go. VERY sharp :) Too bad they weren't able to shoehorn a 170i motor in it, but it's pretty cool what they got.

Too bad there's only going to be 174 of them

Different seat. And it says "psycho" across the back!

hmmm. that's basically my ride with a little bit more flat black painting and a pipe!

oooh. i did not notice the mirrors! hmmm . . . *hunts for mirror thread, looking on ebay for black replacement mirrors*

If it's the quickest Genuine 125 off the line, I wonder if it came at the expense of top end. Or did fiddling with the variator/springs/rollers maintain the top end?

And when they tested the quickness, was it with the optional Prima & a rejet or was it stock?

I dont think it gets the prima pipe

this is my bike in matte black less my big bore kit w/ larger head and plus the big brake (my next and final mod)!

I can attest: it's a freaking hoot to ride!!! slap some zippys on it and it's smoove! too! :) Only I paid WAY more to mod mine than this is OTD :)

Hmmm this is just a mat black buddy 125 with a adjustable rear shock for $300 more not to impressive I could do this with about $40 worth a spray paint  Adjustable rear shock should be standard equipment IMO

Not paying attention... it's a matte black Buddy 125 with NYC suspension front and rear (forks and shocks), upgraded front brake, and upgraded transmission. With a custom seat/saddle. All for only $399 more.

^^^ Agreed, the pile of bits you get added on is a good deal for that cash!

And yes, the black rack, prima pipe and bars are options they don't come on it. Just double checked that.

But, still a bargain...Cool bike, I really want to see that seat in person. Hopefully it will be available as an option by itself.

I do like the fact that it comes with a luggage rack. If I had it, it was gonna get one, anyway.

I'll be durned. It even has USD forks! Now, that's sharp, if they do indeed aid the handling.

Now why couldn't they do up the 170i this way?
Or would that be nipping too close to the Blur's heels?

To me it'd be crazy to ride this. Mat black seems like an invitation for cars to look through the scoot and and then drive over it.

At night, maybe. In broad daylight, black is very noticeable.

I guess somebody could add some of those daylight-invisible reflector strips, if so inclined. A bright jacket and helmet are also helpful. In fact, I bought my latest helmet in white because it's visible and nothing sticks up higher than your head while riding.

Of course, if you want to look as "bad" as the bike, you'd probably want the whole Brando outfit in black.

You could have a hot pink bike with 140dB air horns at each end while wearing a TRON-inspired bodysuit with EL wire on every seam and some idiot will STILL claim that they didn't see you....

Some people can't help that they are a menace on the road and have no place behind the wheel. The best we can do as riders is to be aware and try to avoid those idiots.
