Hello all!
(1st post. Maybe I should bronze it?)

I did it. I have put down the deposit on a 4 stroke Stella! Very Happy I must say came to that decision based largely in part to the wonderful information on this forum. You. guys. are. awesome! Eric, not to single you out- but the info you have personally found, gathered and presented here was a huge benefit and made your site the number one place for me to go for information. Thanks for maintaining this site- You Rock! You know it, everyone here knows it- but it still had to be said.

And that's it! 1st post is just an announcement that I bought one and I appreciate this site for all the info presented in a warm, polite, and unbiased manner.

Yay for me and Yay for you!-
Thanks!
-Newbie.

Look forward to seeing your first ride pics. Tell me, when did your dealer say it would ship? I'm hearing to expect mine anytime from Late April to May 28th.
Have any plans to make any changes, at least cosmetically?
I'm doing a bit of blacking out on mine plus a new seat.

Cheers

Wow, thanks and congrats! I can't take too much credit, though—all the mods and members make huge contributions to the forum and the info we have here.

I'm ridiculously eager to get my Stella 4T. Chomping at the bit!

I would LOVE to post pics! I will: as soon as I get the 4t Stella, for each change/upgrade, on the road, in the garage... I’ll be like a new dad with a digital camera. The sooner I get the 4t Stella– the sooner I can take the photos. As you can tell I'M A LITTLE EXCITED!

bluezurich wrote:

As far as the Ship timeline, in the pre-“sale” emails between Myself and the dealer - we were talking about ‘late April’ – like we all were. But then on the day of the paperwork – he mentioned he got a call that “there were some delays” and I said ‘okay just to keep me in the loop - especially if it goes past May’. Because even though I really want it, if I don’t get it until November or something, I’d have a hard time justifying it to myself, let alone to my wife.

bluezurich wrote:

Plans for the 4t Stella: It looks like there is already a topic on this– so I will talk more about it here, so others can find it if they want. great question! and I am excited to answer it!

- like darkening out the chrome? What do you mean? I might be confused- but it sounds cool, no question about that!

I've heard—and this is unconfirmed—that the new Stellas are shipping in the next 3-4 weeks.

Hopefully the Stella starved state of CA gets theirs first. Smile

Just out of curiosity, with the 2T still readily available in CO, why did you decide to go with the 4T?

Good question Eric, and one that I assumed would come up sooner or later- I even had a whole list of points prepared for the inevitable -but for the life of me I can't find it or remember. I also had one for my significant other to help convince her why I *Needed* it in the 1st place. But I must admit- once I was in the dealership and walking through all the scooters, I think its reasonable to state that no list of "reasons" can compare to the feel and touch of a scooter!

But I'll still try to answer your question.
okay, reasons for me to chose the 4t over the 2t in colorado:

* the Stella 4T is greener, and mock it if you will, but for our family that was actually a huge selling point. Basically if it's a factor I consider when buying a bag of chips- you better believe its a factor I consider when buying something big, too. To say anything more might spark a debate I don't necessarily want to be a part of.

* 2 warranty over a 1 year warranty - Especially on a stella. huge. how many 2 strokers would have wished for that? (with the exception of those chompin' at the bit to performance enhance it)

* a scooter that actually gets over 100 mpg? when I had a scooter every person I ever met including my family asked me if it got "like 100 miles a gallon?" and I either had to lie or be the anti-scooter spokesperson and say "nah it's closer to 60". buzzkill. we've all been there. this way I can feel good about what I drive in all aspects and not make compromises.

* 140 mpg?! I don't hate going to the gas station, but I don't love it! if I can go only half the times as I would with the 2 stroke it'd be worth it- but here it's better than half! - or look at it another way- compared to my daily driver car? its 4 times better instead of only twice as good. Less stops at the pump + Saved time = priceless.

* all the outside bling appears to fit on the Stella 4T - huge! even the stuff I will never want looks to be able to fit right on.
- the inner engine enhancing stuff? that'll come later and I don't think I want any anyway. not for now anyway. if I wanted to win races I'd keep my turbo charged 4 wheel death machine and get crazy mad at people going "the speed limit" and have a bad day all the time because my drive was not as ridiculously fast as "it was that one time when I hit all the lights and sped and didn't get caught". I do not mean to attack people who have crazy fast scooters- I think its cool and I would be there drooling with all the others at a rally. - I just don't want to spend the time and money to get my scooter to be the fastest thing on 2 wheels. I for one will enjoy the fact that it wont go 0-80 mph between lights, or that I will no longer be listening to a song on the radio and not even realize that I'm going 100 mph on the highway. I have speed already, and if I wake up and it's crummy weather I'll use it.

wow- that was rant- I'm sorry- I gotta watch those.

well these are all for now- I know there is more but I can't think of them right now- I just wish it was sitting in my garage waiting for tomorrow!

awesome! I'm not getting my hopes *fully* up - but the sooner the better! Very Happy

Okay bluezurich, I see what you are talking about on your Stella 4T . that sounds sweet!

That is a perfect example of how I think two similar scooters can show two totally different personalities.
I look forward to the bright red and embrace all the chrome and even the cursive-y "Signature" (if you will) Stella emblem on mine, and I *hope* it'll all look good together.
but I can see with your deep blue stella and all black trim and grips and seat ect- that the 80's badges will be perfect. awesome! I'm excited for your pics too! someday soon... Smile

and those LED are a good idea- I forgot I was going to look into that too. looks like you got a lot more homework done on that one than me though! Embarassed

Scotty,

I'm with you on all your points as to why 4t over 2t. I find it incredible with the knowledge we have now about emissions and our planets fragility that so many people are clinging to their 2t's precious spewing like an NRA members death grip on the barrel of their guns. Relax folks, 4t's aren't ruining your 'culture' just another smart switch people can make to enjoy a classic scoot without contributing to further excessive harm.

btw I too hope Eric is correct and yes I HAVE been promised the Spring Fling pkg with all the chrome bits, if it is correct, look for some good ebay deals!

Let's see, 4 weeks out, plus shipping time, factor in customs delays on a new product, Yep mid to late May. As for CA getting theirs first well yeah that's a geographical no brainer but supporting all the existing Stella selling Dealers is a proper thing to do as well for Genuine. I know mine is a great guy and has moved quite a few. He's really excited to get these as well as me!

fwiw, red was my second choice. Red with brown trim looks awesome!

I agree with Buddy Raton. It's great that you love your 4T, no need to spread hate to 2Ters or NRA members.

Shocked Thank you lmyers, BuddyRaton, and laxer. The point has been well-made, now let's please move on! No need to further dogpile on bluezurich's newbie error.

bluezurich, please read the Posting Guidelines, especially this part here:

Quote:
GENERAL BEHAVIOR
The purpose of Modern Buddy is to inform, educate, entertain and bring us together as a community. This is a forum where scooterists of all ranges of experience, backgrounds and knowledge levels could come and discuss things without feeling intimidated or assaulted by the hostility often found elsewhere. Be civil to one another. Treat everyone with respect. Keep it friendly and remember that not everyone shares your particular viewpoint, nor should anyone be ridiculed or patronized for not believing or behaving exactly as you do.

Everyone can chill out. Here's a friendly yet stern reminder of the relevant section of the Posting Guidelines:

Quote:
Flaming is not allowed. While discussion, courteous disagreement and debate are fine (even encouraged), arguing and bickering is frowned upon as it contributes to a negative and hostile tone. As such, the following topics and types of content are not permitted on Modern Buddy:
• Racism, sexism, homophobia or any other type or hate speech
• Pornography (Nudity probably does not constitute pornography, but context is everything. The moderators and I will have the sole and final decision as to what crosses the line. See next guideline for further clarification.)
• Politics and religion (advocacy of a particular party, candidate, viewpoint, or religion, or any controversial topic related to politics or religion)
• Helmet laws and whether the should/should not exist (the cause of many past flame wars)
• Other blatantly divisive topics such as abortion, the death penalty and gun control (to name a few)

One reply was deleted for being disproportionately defensive and resorting to some serious name calling. The others are being left in for now as an example of how not to respond. Razz

I honestly don't think bluezurich is trying to start anything but can see why some may have taken offense. The fact is, we have many who appreciate all sorts of scooters here for their various qualities.

We don't have many of those "the 4T is an abomination" types on this forum. If anyone really wants to pick a fight, head on over to the BBS.

I had the day off so I stopped by the dealer and got some practice time with the shifty. it did not take as long as I thought! I still want to try a time or two around the block and using the blinker and more parking and high beams and low beams and horn ect- trying it with other cars on the road - normal driving stuff. I thought the hard part would be the shifting and knowing when to shift- but not so bad- very fun! and not near as hard as I thought it'd be!
