Among the open face helmets - the Bell Mag-8 and the Z1R Metro both have a flip down face shield and a built-in sunvisor. I believe HJC makes a full face with a flip down visor.

My wife's Scorpion 1/2 helmet has a top-gun style slide down visor. Many other Scorpion models do as well.

My Scorpion EXO-1000 has one and I freakin LOVE it. I'll never buy another helmet without one.

I have an HJC IS-MAX with a drop down sun visor. In general I like it because I can easily drop and retract it numerous times during my commute, as I pass variously out of a dark parking garage, into the sun, into a very shady tree lined area and then back into full sun directly into my face. My only complaints are: 1) It's not very dark. It's certainly better than nothing, but not as good as sunglasses 2) Sometimes it rattles a little bit when it's retracted. It doesn't happen all the time. I think it may be just the right combination of side winds and head angle that cause this to happen. My rides are generally short, so it doesn't really bother me.

I love my Z1R Metro helmet. I wish however, it had a 'drop down' sun whatever-you-call-it under the face shield.......

How do those built in shades do with fogging?

I have the HCI-16. Its a good little 3/4 and definitely looks cool, but the drop down sun visor offers very little in the way of actually keeping the sun out of your eyes. When I bought it I expected that I would be able to simply switch it down whenever the suns got in my eyes, but I found out quickly just having a pair of sunglasses handy is the best way to not go blind driving into the sunset.

HJC Sy-Max. My b/f is on his second Sy-Max. He loves the built-in pop-down glasses, but was complaining that his eyes were hurting after a couple of hours riding home due west.

My neighbor has a Scorpion with built in and she raves about it. Much cheaper than the HJC. I wear prescription sunglasses, so I've no personal experience with the flip-down.

I've never had occasion to deploy the shade when it's cold enough to fog, so it doesn't seem to be an issue.

The HJC IS-Max is full face and a reasonable price. It's also modular, a feature I have grown to really appreciate. It's worth checking out.

i have used the shade in 30 deg weather and when it is that cold the shade does fog a bit but not bad
then again that is with the breath deflector in chin guard in and the vents closed due to the cold
and it only fogged up when sitting still

Scorpion helmets never fog up. They have some patent on it or something crazy. I have one and it literally has never fogged up.

My EXO 700 would loudly beg to differ. That thing fogs up if I look at it wrong.

I'm actually more curious about the drop down visor part of these helmets, since that's right above your nose and presumably behind the air vents from the top of the helmet.

I also have the HJCSy-Max II, and find it works well for me. I've never had an issue with the dark shield fogging (the front shield, however...).

I've seen the Scorpion, but it didn't seem to fit my head.

The Zog mentioned above seems similar to the Sy-Max series. Another rider I know has one and loves it, and bought it for about half the price of the Sy-Max.

The usual disclaimer ... try one on in a local store if you can.

scorpion exo 1000 hasn't fogged up on me either. It does have a vent at your chin so air goes up in front of your mouth. Love the helmet, has lots of venting for those 100 deg. days

I have a EXO-900 helmet. My first one was in black. I had an accident on my scooter, and the helmet held up so well, I bought it again...this time in neon yellow for better conspicuity.

Weird... my spare helmet is an EXO 700 and it has never fogged up on me either no matter how hard I breathe in there. Did you replace the visor by any chance with a third party one? I have the 700 and the 1000 and neither of them have ever fogged on me after hours and hours of use.

Plus, did you clean the inside of the visor with Windex etc? Supposed to use soap and water only on the inside. An amonia cleaning product may remove the anti-fog coating on the EXO. The vents on the EXO-1000 seems to work fine so far, but I just got it so take it for what it's worth.

Nope, just soap and water on the inside and Plexus on the outside. This is with both the clear shield that came with it and the tinted one that I bought separately. Maybe I just have sticky breath? Doesn't really matter as I don't wear that helmet anymore. Laughing
