I purchased their sport exhaust and per their advice, a 42 pilot , 90 main jet, and 9g Dr Pulley sliders. The scooter is louder and acceleration is worse. Top speed maybe 3 mph faster. Anyhow it seems to be running rich. I plan to go to 7g Dr Pulley sliders and a 38mm Uni red foam filter. If it seiz...

Idle problem
The first thing I'd do is buy some Chevron Techron FI fuel conditioner and run a tank of gas with 2 ounces of Techron. It's worked for me on both a BMW 650 and a 300 Ninja when both had idle problems when the engines were hot, like after a 20 minute ride. Bought it at Walmart.

Great at high rpm and lousy everywhere else . It's for racing not very day use, I could be wrong but usually you do this mod with 70 BBK which takes care of the low speed issue due to the larger displacement.

I'd bet you need a #42 pilot jet and adjust the mixture screw.MonsterHouse 50 wrote:Hey guys I have a 2013 roughhouse 50 that I adore. The issue I have is I just installed a prima exhaust on it and I'm getting some serious lag at 26-34 mph. After I hot 45 I take of to roughly 60mph.

I assume it would be expensive to buy. If it can't be charged at home at 110v I wouldn't consider buying one. Scooterworks sells the kit so email them. Of course a persons body weight has a lot to do with it. Mine indicates 50 mph on the speedo on a straight road with a slight downhill grade. I weigh 180. The exhaust re striction and variator washer were removed by dealer. The speedo is probably optimistic.

I loved my Buddy 170i, but after replacing the exhaust and the rollers, bit the bullet and bought a Yamaha S max. It's heavier but makes 15hp versus 11 and does 72 mph. Luckily I could buy a Rough house too for the city. If 125cc two strokes were legal, I could only need one scooter.

I'd put a -1 tooth front sprocket, 13 vs 14 for better acceleration and less downshifting. Worked for me. Yoshimura has a really nice exhaust system that bolts up easily. Did both to my Grom. No remap required. If it looks like a little devil, it should act like one. Cheap fun!

The 170i is a 2 valve engine. The fuel injection makes it run great hot or cold. To go fast with the Genuine brand buy a Blur 220i.
Or enjoy the Buddy for what it is, fun, reliable, unique.

Unless you ditch the air box, install a full exhaust system, and install a big bore kit, you don't need a FI controller.

Get the 170
All carbureted scooters have starting problems if they sit long due to ethanol in our gas. Fuel injected bikes don't have this issue. As far as a kickstarer on the 170, if your battery was low it would not start with a kickstarer as the fuel pump and CPU need 12.6 volts for the engine to start.

It could be as simple as a bad tank of gasoline, especially if it's been sitting a while and you don't fill up the tank every couple of weeks. I would think it is ready for a valve adjustment. Never heard of CVT problems at that low mileage. Hope you sort it out,
