Re: Cabo
George54: Would you be willing to share your thoughts on the Cabo 150 compared to the Buddy 125? I have heard plenty of opinions, but since you have owned and ridden both, your observations would be appreciated! Clydeo, To be fair and accurate My Lance was the Milan 150 and my Buddy is my wife's th...

I had a Lance 150 for a couple of years. True, I did not tour on it, but it never gave me a bit of trouble. The quality seemed quite good, even very good for the price I paid. And I sold it for only slightly less than I paid for it. The only problems I had was when it was delivered to my home. The s...

I assume you're going to have it stick out the hatchback? 'cause it ain't gonna fit across the back seat. I wouldn't do it what with the chance that it will come loose and fall out, or fuel or oil can leak out onto your car interior, and the fact that you'll be on the highway with the rear hatch ope...

Thank you Todd and Dooglas. Guys, I of course know I can ride the Buddy to get _some idea_ but it won't be a side by side comparison, and I wouldn't know about power, seat height, etc. I also believe that some years have different diameter wheels, which affect ride, handling, height, etc.. Maybe I'm...

Yes, I could do that for a somewhat general idea, but I wouldn't know just how much a Buddy 125 and a Kymco 150 match up in size and power and performance. If I was considering a Chevrolet Malibu, would I test drive a Ford Fusion and make my decision to buy the Chevy from that? I'm looking for advic...

Will a Kymco Super 8 150 be enough for me?
Thinking of a Super 8 150. And also considering a Like 200. I'm 6' tall and barely 200lbs. I'd use it around town, and also on an occasional short trip (probably 3 miles) excursion on a 50MPH speed limit connector road and also on 45MPH county country roads. I've heard the S8 150 can hit 60MPH. My q...

I'm in complete agreement with you to not go back there. Buy a different brand as you are thinking to do, or buy one off Craigslist. Whatever brand you get, buy a repair manual and learn to do basic maintenance yourself- it's not that hard- and you may avoid needing a real mechanic for quite a while...

The clicking sound after it tries to turn over means your battery is very near dead or maybe the terminals or another point on the electrical (starting) system has a loose connection. A nearly dead battery will still light the lights but won't have enough juice to start the scooter. As others have s...

Just saying that its better to over tighten than under tighten is too broad of a comment, IMO. What y'all mean to say, I hope, is _slightly_ over tighten. I recently owned a Honda CB1100. Over on that forum are photos of the engine cases where the filter mounts. Apparently, the Honda factory workers...

It's got to be something simple like previously mentioned. Lots of people that have a bike for sale are selling because they don't ride, and, as such, the battery is usually run down. Maybe the seller put a quick charge into it just before you were due to arrive, and of course, it started that one t...

The Kelly Bluebook average retail for a 2009 Buddy 125 is $1730. That is fairly high mileage, but I'd say the price is primarily dependent on condition and service history. A Buddy is certainly capable of several times that mileage presuming regular servicing and reasonable care. At that many miles...

I'm no expert, but it seems a bit high. Your friend's possible purchase would depend on condition and if it has been properly serviced. He could probably find a much newer, say, 2013 with very few miles for around $1600-$1900. So, to me, that year and that mileage I'd pay ~ $1000 if it's in good sha...

Re: Gas smell slight bog on initial throttle Buddy 125
I have a 2006 Buddy 125 I just inherited. It had sat for 3 years apparently. I drained the gas, changed all the fluids, and added seafoam (1oz) to the first tank I filled. It runs, but I can smell gas when I ride it, and the mileage is crappy. It bogs slightly at quarter throttle, but runs fine at ...

Brand name recognition I'd agree. But brand reliability reputation, no. BMW motorcycles as a brand has suffered quite a loss in their reliability reputation the past 10 years. $2,000 final drive repairs and $4,000 clutch jobs plus water pumps and electrical switches, fuel senders, etc... have contri...

Check the part #s of both the plug you removed and the one in there now to see if they were recommended for use in that model scooter. The depth that plug is protruding concerns me too. Certainly possible that the piece of piston broke off after striking the plug. Check the other plug for signs of d...
