For what it's worth, I love my 4T. Just shy of 18,000 miles, and has traveled through the Adirondack, Rocky, and Sierra-Nevada Mountains, as well as many, many country road miles in Indiana.

Keep any bare metal bits painted. Wash the bike regularly - a clean bike is a happy bike (side note: my bike is not a happy bike right now >_>).

The third thing you can do is come riding with me some time, I just moved to the East Bay ;D

I was reading a similar situation about a buddy and it sounded like it was a vapor lock issue. The "vapor lock" issue you read about with Buddy's is actually a tank venting issue. You can diagnose that by loosening the fuel cap a little to let air into the tank. If the problem goes away a...

No problem. Iowa was a lot more fun than I thought it would be! Honestly, I never pictured Iowa as being Hilly, but it definitely was!

Currently in Nebraska (Omaha), and taking a rest day after a rather rough night with heat, storms, etc. I'll update posts soon as I can :)

That might just be the oil that is coating the engine from shipping. Should come off pretty easily with your favorite engine cleaner/degreaser.
