1) The G400 should be available for purchase everywhere in the US except for California in about three to four weeks. Because of California's more complex emissions laws, we won't see them until near the end of the year. 2) SF Scooter Center will be carrying the G400 in their store. So what you are...

I have to agree. I was very enthusiastic about the G400C when it was first announced and as more information and reviews came in. Now I'm kind of leaning toward the Svartpilen 401 as a second bike. Genuine is really dropping the ball on getting the G400C out, and it is very disappointing. (Well, Ge...

It doesn't take long, with practice. If you've ever shifted a motorcycle before, more than half the battle is done already (getting off the clutch without stalling or poppin' a wheelie). If you've never shifted a bike before, it's a bit steeper of a learning curve. I'd never shifted anything before ...

When I bought my windshield for the cross-country drive, I ended up getting the Prima Medium Size Windshield (https://www.scooterworks.com/Prima-Windshield-Medium-Vespa-P-Series-Genuine-Stella-P12630.aspx) Keeps the wind off the body (and hands) without being too much. One negative if you ride with ...

Re: Not sure what happened to Stella 2T - died mid ride
I was reading a similar situation about a buddy and it sounded like it was a vapor lock issue. The "vapor lock" issue you read about with Buddy's is actually a tank venting issue. You can diagnose that by loosening the fuel cap a little to let air into the tank. If the problem goes away a...

San Francisco / East Bay Scooter club?
Hi everyone! Now that things are settling down for me at the new place, I'm ready to start branching out and making friends. What better way than with a scooter club! Problem is, I'm having some trouble finding one that isn't make/model/year etc. specific. Any clubs in the area that take all scooter...

waffling between a buddy50 and a venture, because of this. Not expecting unexpected speed (no replacement for displacement), but whatever scoot i end up with, I'd rather have it to its full potential. If anyone has any insights, please share. thanks! Re: Genuine Venture 50cc De-restrict
Anyone have any idea how to de-restrict the Genuine Venture? I read that all it is is taking the de-restrictor chip on it? Anyone have any idea where it is or what to do? If I remember correctly, one of the restrictions is in the carburetor as well. When I worked at a Genuine dealer, we experimente...

Congratulations! So now that you've had some time to rest and recuperate, what do you think? Would you do it again, or is once enough for a lifetime? Yalzin, Are you still crossing at Ft. Madison? If so, I can't make any guarantees. What time do you plan on arriving and leaving? Got the rejection e-mail last night. Oh well. Hard not to think of it as $500 wasted on travel (and quite a lot of time), but I suppose these things happen. Attaching (light) items to the front without a front rack?
Has anyone done that? I was thinking about attaching a sleeping bag (or pad, or something similarly light) to the front, but I don't have a front rack. I'm also not super thrilled about spending $130 towards a front rack. Don't bother without a rack up there? Alternatively, anyone know of a cheaper ...

Right now, she's a hair over 13,500 miles...a little more than half of it on this motor (it was completely rebuilt, crank and all, at around 6,500mi due to a bearing that came loose, and took out basically everything but the case). Still runs like a champ. I've kept up on her maintenance (which was ...

Re: Camelback
The Stella should be good for an hour to an hour and a half on a tank of gas (I've been averaging about 80 mpg, but that's without the additional weight of gear and such, so I'm planning on 70 mpg-ish). So, breaks will happen. I've done some pretty lengthy rides (not this long though) around Souther...

Yalzin, I rode 100 miles on US-6 in Iowa yesterday. The bugs were pretty heavy. I've never ridden US-50, but I don't imagine it'd be any better down there. Re: Trip
For food, I just carry an old army mess kit and canteen cup. I stop off at a store and buy a can of soup or something simple (chili, etc). I heat it us, and then wash up where ever I can. In the morning, I get breakfast bars at a store, and munch on them as I ride. I try to stop off somewhere like ...
